Look out for the Blue Plaques attached to buildings in and around Kensington High Street marking the buildings where famous people have lived or worked, or where significant events have taken place. The people commemorated are from all walks of life, including artists, musicians, writers, scientists, politicians, and social reformers.
The scheme for the blue plaques is run by English Heritage, designed to celebrate the unique relationship between people and place – and we certainly have that connection in Kensington with over 50 blue plaques in the area.
Our map includes the locations of the blue plaques in the area, but be aware that some aren’t blue and some aren’t round either. The popular blue plaques we recognise today were only introduced after the Second World War.
