Our Security Programme

Opportunity Kensington’s Security Programme was launched in June 2023, expressing our commitment to this area to create a safe and welcoming place to visit, work and live. We are proud of our partnership with Safer Business Network and My Local Bobby to support our members in the Kensington High Street and surrounding areas.

We are keen to encourage the businesses to be more resilient, and our priority is to reduce anti-social behaviour, violence and crime in our beloved community.

The Security Programme provides our levy-paying member businesses the key fundamentals to thrive. Members benefit from the Street Warden services combined with a Business Crime Reduction Partnership service that provides the ShopSafe Alert intelligence platform, as well as bespoke award-winning training (e.g. Welfare And Vulnerability Engagement (WAVE) and Ask for Angela Training, Conflict Management, SCAN/ACT and First Aid Training). Please contact us for further information.

• Our Street Wardens patrol the streets to enhance safety and security and to assist with any issues.

• We will provide your business with the tools to deal with any kind of disruption or concern.

• We will help to empower your business by upskilling your staff to the highest standards.

• The security team work to connect all stakeholders and procure daily updates from the Metropolitan Police and Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Council.

Our commitment to this area to create a safe and welcoming place to visit, work and live.

Metropolitan Police Services
We work closely with the Metropolitan Police Services, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Council and other supporting partners to address local businesses’ concerns in terms of business crime and upskilling staff members around crime prevention and safety.

Street Wardens
Our private security Street Wardens are available 6 days a week to support our members, to respond to on-street first aid situations, public nuisances, anti-social behaviour and crime related issues.

Our plans for 2024:

Create a #ShopKind district

Opportunity Kensington is proud to team up with Safer Business Network to promote the national #ShopKind campaign. As trusted #ShopKind Champions and they will ensure that this initiative is promoted across all our businesses.

#ShopKind unites the retail sector to tackle violence and abuse against shopworkers by asking people to #Shopkind in stores and the campaign is backed by the Home Office and supported by major high street retailers. As part of #ShopKind campaign promotion, we take the opportunity to talk about the safety of staff members on their way to and from work after this had been raised as a concern with us. We will distribute #ShopKind posters aimed to educate the public. This engagement is very well received, and businesses are eager to know all the work that is going on behind the scenes to keep staff safe.

Monthly Intelligence Meetings:

We are pleased to introduce our new intelligence meeting initiative to enhance the service and commitment towards our member businesses and to create a much safer environment.

Free training opportunities

Our members can attend bespoke and award-winning trainings such as Welfare And Vulnerability Engagement (WAVE) and Ask for Angela trainings, Conflict Management, SCAN/ACT and First Aid Trainings with more training options to come.
